About me
I am very excited to join the team and serve the Madonna Catholic School as Assistant Principal and grade four teacher. I have been an educator for 22 years and I have taught a number of courses from grades 5 to 8 over that time. I have had so many blessings as a teacher, where I have had the opportunity to learn and grow in my professional practice. I eagerly began my teaching career in Fort Saskatchewan as a grade five teacher at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic School. After a few years, I began teaching grade 6 at Our Lady of the Angels. I enjoyed teaching grade six for several years before accepting a position as the Inclusive Learning Facilitator and School Counsellor at Our Lady of the Angels. In 2015, I became the Assistant Principal at Our Lady of the Angels. This past year, I have loved teaching at St. John Paul II Catholic Middle School in Fort Saskatchewan, where I was the Assistant Principal and physical education teacher for grade 7 and grade 8 students.
I have a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta with a major in Elementary Generalist and a minor in Elementary Science. I also have a Master of Education degree from the University of Alberta in Educational Psychology.
I believe students learn best when they have a positive relationship with their teacher, feel supported and challenged in their learning, and when they are highly engaged in lessons. My vision involves supporting teachers and students in the always evolving creation of a faith-filled, student-centred and innovative learning environment. I believe the needs of our students should be at the heart of all that we do at Madonna Catholic School. "What is best for students?" is the fundamental question that guides my actions.
On a personal note, I was born and raised in St. Albert where I am a member of Holy Family Parish. I enjoy volunteering as a lector for masses and my Catholic faith and values are very much a part of my life.
I am very excited to join the Madonna Catholic School community and to get to know our students, staff and parents. I appreciate the warm welcome I have received in my first few visits to the school.
Yours in Catholic Education,
Shauna Lindbeck
